How it works for boutiques and luxury retail

Want to accept crypto at your boutique? We set up checkout for everyday pieces and big luxury sales, and you get paid in US dollars. Your rates and fees are set by the processor, and we will walk you through every step, from the application to your first live sale and staff training.

For most boutique sales, Flexa's Point of Sale app is the simplest setup. You key in the amount on an iPhone or iPad, a QR code appears, and the customer pays from their wallet. Flexa charges a 1% flat fee with no setup or conversion fees (Flexa, Flexa docs).

For luxury purchases of $5,000 or more, we route you to BitPay, whose retail page names luxury goods among the merchants it serves. BitPay settles US dollars the next business day and locks the exchange rate on each invoice (BitPay).

Shoppers won't ask if they don't know. In a PayPal and National Cryptocurrency Association survey of merchants (industry-sponsored), 88% reported customer inquiries about paying with crypto (PayPal/NCA). Our setup includes a window decal, a counter sign and a receipt insert. See also jewelers, salons and med spas and our guide.

Which processor you'll use

We route by your average ticket: under $5,000 goes to Flexa (1% flat, iPhone/iPad app) and $5,000 and up goes to BitPay (2% + $0.25, next-business-day USD settlement).

Flexa: everyday tickets

  • 1% flat fee, with no setup or conversion fees (Flexa)
  • Flexa Point of Sale app on any iPhone or iPad (Flexa docs)
  • For small and mid-size tickets, under $5,000

BitPay: big tickets

  • 2% + $0.25 per transaction under $500K/month (BitPay pricing)
  • US dollars to your bank the next business day, locked exchange rates, and no chargebacks as a BitPay feature (BitPay)
  • For tickets of $5,000 and up

Processor fees are set by BitPay and Flexa and can change. Crypto fees are not always lower than card fees, so we compare against your own statement rate. Processors approve or decline merchants, not us.

FAQ

Will Flexa work with my current POS?

Flexa's Point of Sale app runs on its own iPhone or iPad next to your existing register, so you don't need to replace your POS.

Which processor handles a $6,000 handbag?

Sales of $5,000 and up go to BitPay in our routing.

How does a boutique accept crypto at checkout?

Key the amount into Flexa's iPad app, the shopper scans the QR code and pays from their wallet. Larger luxury sales use BitPay.

Do I have to hold crypto?

No. Payments settle in US dollars, and we never touch your funds.

Will this save me money versus cards?

Not necessarily. Crypto processor fees can be similar to card rates. We compare against your own statement and don't promise savings.
